I have the updated code for projectphotos done, there are a couple things I don’t like but it is functional. I think I made database changes, I just hope I wrote the update scripts otherwise I am not going to be a happy person tomorrow morning when I try and upload the code and can’t update the database backend.

The first doesn’t come out until the 8th and the other is a touch on the expensive side. I would love it even more it had a zoom ring on the lens at the front. That would make it prefect for me.

hmm haven’t posted for a while, just discovered something. The friends page only goes back so far, that sucks.

I am sitting at home on a Friday night watching episodes of southpark on my tivo and drinking beer. I have a lot of beer to drink. I had a party last weekend and everyone brought beer. So I have 2, 1 gallon containers, and a full fridge plus about another 6 packs of beer. However the carrot cake and the upsidedown pudding were excellent. Oh and I have an icecream cake in the freezer.

The weekend before the party I was in Scotland, I left on the Wednesday got in on the thrusday morning. Decided put more memory in my sisters laptop and reinstall the OS. She had been complaining about it crashing, so I prepped for almost everything. downloading burning CD’s with drivers and software for everything I could think of before getting on the plane. Dialup modems suck….. finished that then on the Friday I went to Edinburgh, picked up my vaccination record from the doctors and promptly lost it then went drinking with some friends from Uni and stopped off for Pizza. I love the UK, Veggie stuff is marked on the menu so it is easy. Then went back to my parents. Then Went to Kate and Sean’s wedding for an excellent day and night of fun. Stayed over night in Edinburgh. The next day had Veggie haggis for lunch and walked to Alien Rock to go indoor climbing. I knew I was done when I couldn’t even climb the easy wall anymore. I need to find somewhere in Baltimore to go climbing. Next day hiked up Glen Tilt and finished the night by having dinner with my Granny and my Family in Dundee. On Tuesday I got on a plane and flew back to baltimore for work the next day.

Just a normal week for me. So I really don’t feel bad about drinking beer and watching South Park.

Fun week end, out for dinner Friday night and a few drinks. Saturday did some stuff and went looking for Camera shops in Baltimore. I found 2 one was closed and the other open. I played with the nikon coolpix 5700 mmm nice camera but I don’t think I am ready for the price tag yet. I think I might get another N80 body first. It would be cool to be able to keep a roll of black and white and colour at the same time. Its is very rare that I feel like taking a whole role of black and white. Saturday night was spent playing HY new xbox. I think she is going to spent all week playing so she will be able to kick my ass. Then Sunday morning more Xbox then dinner and a couple beers 🙂
I have also been playing around with way to read a file off of a remote computers hard drive using internet explorer. This would mean either getting someone to open a web page you control or if some ones webmail service is lame then just get them to open an email. All fun stuff. Disable java until that little puppy is fixed.

Ok, so I am a dumbass. I forgot to switch off my alarm clock, and by the time i was able to work out where the off button was (I normally use snooze) I was awake. There was some thunder and lightning this morning so I got up and of course switched on the computer. So far this monring I have done
1) reconfigured the sound driver in linux to use the new card I bought to replace the shitty one on my main desktop machine.
2) got sound working on my file server machine. This has been broken since upgrading the kernel. Should have looked more closely at the config file. Turned out that I had compiled alsa to use OSS and the module.conf or conf.module as I know it file was disabling OSS so the driver would not start up. So it is up and running now and even worked after a reboot. So now can play MP3’s while rebooting my main desktop machine.
3) Installed a new version of opera on linux.
4) Tidied my desk well more dumping everthing in one pile I need to find somewhere to put my scanner rather than on the floor.

Things todo today
1) Finish laundry
2) Book ticket for Xmass flight
3) Do something about my 401k
4) balance my chqeue book, well maybe not
5) finish watching the tutorial for photohop 7
6) Do filing, yeah right.
7) do rebate for my new toy, Rio Volt Sp250

I just had a brain wave. Currently I filter my email by checking to see if you are in my address book. This however has problems when people are CC’d on emails because when they reply the cc’d people are not in my address book so get dumped in my junk folder. Now the brain wave is that junk mail will never have your fullname as part of the email, in my case “Ian Macdonald”. However it is quite likely that personal mail will have the full name because they took your email from their address book. So I when I get some time I am going to update my filters so that it will allow email with “Ian Macdonald” in to To: or the CC: field. Tada!

In think my home desktop machine is at Cruft Force 5, I get lots of service can not be sarted, that are due to USB helper services that don’t like the fact that I unplugged their usb device from the system and feel the need to protest at that fact on every boot.
