This question has been running around in my head for the past couple days. I remember taking a class in High School called modern studies which covers politics and other modern type issues. One of the questions asked in the class was “What companies would you not work for because they make something that is against your moral beliefs” Would you work for a company that makes bombs that kill people for example? Would you work for the company that makes the microchips that are used by the company that make the bombs? Would you work for a company that you know makes something that is used by the company that makes the microchips? Where do you draw the line?

This was an interesting question when I was 14, I am now I am 26 and looking for a job and a lot of the companies in the area are involved in military contracts.

Interesting, BBC America is showing “So Graham Norton” which is a Channel Four Show. For those who don’t know the UK has 5 broadcast channels 2 of them run by the BBC then ITV, Channel 4 and originally named Channel 5. So the BBC is showing a show that was made by the competition

Geek Stuff:
This made me laugh. I am playing with an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) used to monitor networks for hacking attempts. I looked at the config files and saw this

config classification: kickass-porn,SCORE! Get the lotion!,1

It turns out there is a whole section on detecting porn requests. This would have been prefect for finding the mythological porn site I was always searching for at my last job.

The plan for tomorrow is to go visit and cook some food. On the menu is Orange and Carrot Soup, Mushroom risotto, Something with meat in it (I am not in charge of it) roasted potatoes, and to finish upside down pudding. 🙂

The power just dipped, then popped then went out completely then came back on. Now i am going to be waiting for ever for my fileserver/dns server to recheck the hard disk then come back online. Just as well I don’t actually need it tonight. If I knew I was going to be staying in the country I would have bought a couple UPS. I have way to much computer equipment and the cable box doesn’t come back on when the power goes out so the Tivo can’t change the channels and record stuff. This kind of thing normally happens when I leave to go on holiday and I come back to find that many hours of nothing has been recorded while away. In fact had I actually gone home for christmas this is exactly what would have happened.
